General Motors Vice Chairman of Global Product Development Bob Lutz was just on The Colbert Report blaming global warming on sunspots and dissing his own Chevrolet Volt as a weak, unattractive car. I'll post the video here as soon as it's online.

Add to myYahoo!Another bad day for McCain.Could it be the walls are closing just a little bit more on John McCain? The polls hint at it. The national polls show Obama once again barely taking a lead while the state polls lag a little.First, the ready-to-be-commander-in-chief-on-day-one guy doesn’t know who the prime minister of spain is. Add to myYahoo!NYTimes poll, Obama 48, McCain 43:
Despite an intense effort to distance himself from the way his party has done business in Washington, Senator John McCain . . . is widely viewed as a typical Republican who would continue or expand President Bushs policies, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News Poll.
. . . The poll was taken during a period of extraordinary turmoil on Wall Street. By overwhelming numbers, Americans said the economy was the top issue affecting their vote decision, and they continued to express deep pessimism about the nations economic future. They continued to express greater confidence in Mr. Obamas ability to manage the economy, even as Mr. McCain has aggressively sought to raise doubts about it.
McCain needs a new game changer. Right now, "it's the economy, stupid." If that does not change by Election Day, this election is over.
By Big Tent Democrat, speaking for me only
