Whether or not it's roots are altruistic and sentimental or crass and commercial, tomorrow is Mother's Day. I'm asking for your favorite songs about mothers- good mothers, bad mothers, wise mothers, crazy mothers- or whatever else you've got.

Add to myYahoo!Sam Seder brings us a moment of ?Fluffyhead? Gregory fellating the supposed popularity of Governor Bully; I mention Dancin? Dave because he?s going to head a ?conference for a major GOP advocacy group,? as noted here (yep, time for another blogger ethics panel).
?Let?s see, ethics and journalistic integrity, ethics and journalistic integrity?now where did I put that SPJ handbook again??
And imagine the hue and cry if Rachel Maddow did the same thing for the Dems (and no, assuming he was still working, Keith Olbermann attending Netroots Nation ? which he won?t this year due to a surgical procedure ? isn?t the same thing since the Dems don?t really pay attention to N.N., not enough of them anyway ? they?d be better off if they did).
As for Governor Bully running in 2016, I'd love to see that. All of this crap about how he's supposedly so overwhelmingly popular, a fabled Beltway media narrative, would be crushed once and for all (and by the way, kudos to Seder for being pissed off - more like this)...
?and as the immortal Mr. S. once said, ?Happy Mother?s Day to all you muthas out there.?

Add to myYahoo! Reblogged from Global Job Gap, Local Skills Gap:

As noted by The Economist, ?[s]everal prominent economists now reckon that inequality was a root cause of the financial crisis.? Indeed, in recent years there has been a proliferation of analyses supporting this view writes Till van Treeck in Did inequality cause the U.S. financial crisis? published on boeckler.de.
The explanation is straightforward: As the benefits of rising aggregate income over the past decades were confined to a rather small group of households at the top of the income distribution, the consumption of the lower and middle income groups was largely financed through rising credit rather than rising incomes.
