The Little Things

I wrote that sidewalk quality and access were relatively low on the list of urban ills. And they are. But it's also the case that very minor quality of life tweaks in the city are a bigger deal than they may seem. Trash collection, street cleaning, and sidewalks aren't quite up there with improving schools and not being murdered, but they're important too.

So Much For Those Rose-Colored Pentagon Glasses

Due to what can only be described as a freak moment of public honesty, or an attempt to take one for the team, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates goes for the Alighieri Award: "Defense Secretary Robert Gates says he has abandoned hope that troop levels in[...]

Economy has yet to hit bottom.

According to a new Wall Street Journal forecasting survey, by a 3-to-1 ratio, economists say “the economy is in a recession, and almost three-quarters [say] the economy hasn’t yet hit bottom.” In the poll, Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke received a grade of 78 out of 100, down from “the 92 he scored in September.” Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson’s “grade dropped slightly — to 73 from 74 in February.”

Did Bush just say he doesn't (or didn't) think
Iraq was worth it

From ABC:

Though there were concerns during much of last year that Iraq was heading toward civil war, Bush says that he often reiterated his confidence in U.S. "victory" for the sake of the troops.

"That's as much to try and bolster the spirits of the people in the field as well -- you can't have the commander-in-chief say to a bunch of kids who are sacrificing that either it's not worth it or you're losing. What does that do for morale?" Bush said.
So Bush wasn't confident of victory? And he didn't say that Iraq wasn't worth it, or that we were losing, because that would hurt the morale of the troops, rather than not saying it because it wasn't true. Kind of like saying "I denied I had an affair because it would have hurt my wife to say otherwise." No, you denied you had an affair because you didn't have an affair. The only person who comes up with the previous excuse is someone who knows he was lying. So Bush is basically saying that he thought we were losing and that it wasn't worth it. But he kept wasting our money, and letting our troops be injured and killed, so that he didn't hurt anyone's feelings. Well, that would be the feelings of the troops who survived.

Race to the White House: Should Colin Powell
Endorse Obama

Download | Play    Download | Play  (h/t Heather)On Race to the White House with David Gregory, the punditocracy was all aflutter at Colin Powell’s interview with ABC’s Good Morning America in which he refrained from endorsing any candidate but made some positive statements about Barack Obama.  So naturally, the media decides that the topic should be whether Powell will [...]

Sikfux

So many sikfux and so little time. Poor God. It must be turning over in Its grave; so many sikfux doing so many sikfuk things in Its Name. Poor thing.

When the Thing made the Universe could It have imagined such a sikfuk corner of a random galaxy that produced a species that couldn't scratch the ass of a flea on Its Ass yet think they know Its Mind to the extent these would-be flea-ass scratchers can kill their enemies and fuck little girls in Its Name with impunity?

Oh, sorry. They weren't little girls. They'd hit puberty. Their eggs had dropped. Forget that more girls hit puberty earlier now than ever before; to the sect, once the eggs drops - they are wives. Meant to submit to the will of a sikfuk pedophile armed with spiritual truth.

Sikfux.

There is no shortage of sikfuk believers out there. Killers, Rapists, Kings and Papists.

And, hey, let's be honest. There are plenty of "normal" sikfux out there. But I don't want to talk about you and me. I don't want to talk about the crazy Apocalyptoids of Baby Jesus, Baby Moses and Mohammad's flying horse.

There is only one thing worse than a baby killer.

And that's a baby fucker.

It's not only rogue Mormons who believe in polygamy. Lots of fucking patriarchic sikfux all over the world do it. They do it in the Kingdom. They do it the Tribal Areas. They do it in Mormon Country. Hey, I have nothing against polygamy. And it should go both ways.

But I just have this little itty-bitty tiny problem with people who fuck kids in general and "believers" who fuck kids specifically.

Have you seen pictures of the compound? Dudes this wasn't some kind of secret sex dungeon. This was a Church. A kid-fucking Church. Or was it a Temple? A place where Elders of Zion Ranch could, under the cloak of religion, fuck little girls.

Okay, fifteen and sixteen year-old girls are not little. They want to fuck too. But willingly to an old fart with ear-hair and whiskey breath?

How about ten years? Eleven?

If the criteria is menstruation; then is a ten year old 'woman' too young?

I'm sorry. But here is what you do.

It's going to take a few thousand of you. Some of you will die. But it's got to be done.

You march right down to the Mohave County Arizona jail, forcibly remove Warren Jeffs from his comfy prison cell, take him immediately to the closest public square, stand him up against a tree and put a bullet in his brain.

It's the best cure for sikfux.

Sidewalks

While relatively low on the list of urban ills, it's quite true that Philly needs to take back its sidewalks. I appreciate that construction projects will, at times, need to appropriate them, but as it currently stands they have no incentive to either minimize their footprint on them or to give the space back in a timely fashion.

Large Donors Half of Obama's Total

The Washington Post today is debunking the belief that Barack Obama's campaign is funded by small owners in a grassroots effort.  In actuality half his money has come from people donating more than $200 and 79 bundlers have raised at least $200,000[...]
