Add to myYahoo!Long-time readers may remember that I spotted the advent of self-powered, stand-alone remote monitoring devices five years ago and thought they could be great both for homeland security (remember that 85% of the nation’s critical infrastructure, especially energy, chemical, and rail facilities, is in private hands) and to help companies enjoy the often-overlooked economic benefits [...]

Add to myYahoo!Yet they're still spending money like a drunken white American. It makes no sense. They can't honestly believe the race is still on. She lost. It's over. The donors know it, and don't feel like financing Hillary's ongoing denial (after Indiana, Hillary only raised 1/10th of the money that came in after Pennsylvania). Even the media stopped drinking her Kool-Aid. Her staff ought to start looking for other jobs because, seriously folks, do you really think your salaries are going to get paid before the nearly $5m Hillary owes Mark Penn? And the longer you keep this up, the more you jeopardize future employment opportunities in the Democratic party. Think: Gerstein.

Add to myYahoo!Bill Clinton's presidential terms brought a lot of firsts, including being the first "classic rock" president. His use of the Fleetwood Mac song "Don't Stop (Thinking about Tomorrow)" in 1992 was inspirational.
On my Indiana trip, I noticed there was a soundtrack during Bill Clinton's stop in Plymouth and Hillary Clinton's stop in South Bend. After the speeches, the soundtrack kicked in.
John Mellencamp - This Is My Country
Tom Petty - I Won't Back Down
Bachman Turner Overdrive - You Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet
Theme from Rocky - Bill Conti
The artists and titles have great significance. Mellencamp ties into Indiana and the pride in our country. Petty sounds familiar to that audience, and the obvious title for Hillary of not backing down. While BTO is a Canadian group, the title and classic rock familiarity are appropriate for Hillary Clinton's demographics. And the Theme from Rocky obviously is a carryover from the fighter image and the Pennsylvania primary.

Add to myYahoo!Normally, you'd think Senators facing tough reelection battles would want the highest-profile help their party had to offer. You'd think that for Republicans that would be the incumbent president -- but of course, Bush has the worst disapproval rating since they started measuring that.
So in this, as in so many things, McCain will be standing in for Bush, going on the road for New Hampshire's John Sununu, Maine's Susan Collins, Oregon's Gordon Smith, and Minnesota's Norm Coleman. Because, as the Cook Report's Jennifer Duffy says:
"The interesting thing about McCain is that he may not help anybody, but he's not a drag on anybody," she said.
Yet. He's not a drag on anybody yet. Because he hasn't yet faced a settled Democratic nominee. Because the traditional media has given him a free ride, rarely pointing out that on the votes that matter, McCain's no maverick. When the Republican party and George W. Bush need him, John McCain is reliably there for them.
How alike are McCain and Bush? MoveOn puts you to the (f'ing difficult) test -- a test a lot of reporters could stand to take before they write their next stories squeeing over all the awesome straight-talking maverickness. If they start writing the story of the John McCain who actually stands in front of them instead of the one in their heads, by November he'll be as much of a drag on Sununu, Collins, Coleman, and Smith as Bush is today.

Add to myYahoo! This week, Arianna Huffington said that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) and his wife, Cindy, told her at a Los Angeles dinner party not long after the 2000 election that neither of them voted for George Bush. A McCain spokesman insisted “it’s not true,” and told reporters to “consider the source.” Appearing on Fox News’s O’Reilly Factor last night, McCain tried to clarify:
O’REILLY: Did you vote for President Bush?
MCCAIN: Of course not. I campaigned all over this country for him.
O’REILLY: So you voted for President Bush.
MCCAIN: Of course. I mean, that’s a ridiculous question.
Watch it:
Today, the New York Times reports that two other attendees at that Los Angeles dinner, “West Wing” actors Bradley Whitford and Richard Schiff, say they, too, heard McCain say he had not voted for Bush.

Notice I didn't have any entries about make-up. I am unconvinced that make-up is in any way essential to being an effective woman. The key is effective, not self-conscious or self-obsessed.
What would you add or remove from this list?
