In Soviet Russia, perhaps. There is no way this should be legal in the US.
Employers and colleges find the treasure-trove of personal information hiding behind password-protected accounts and privacy walls just too tempting, and some are demanding full access from job applicants and student athletes. In Maryland, job seekers applying to the state's Department of Corrections have been asked during interviews to log into their accounts and let an interviewer watch while the potential employee clicks through wall posts, friends, photos and anything else that might be found behind the privacy wall. Previously, applicants were asked to surrender their user name and password, but a complaint from the ACLU stopped that practice last year. While submitting to a Facebook review is voluntary, virtually all applicants agree to it out of a desire to score well in the interview, according Maryland ACLU legislative director Melissa Coretz Goemann.

6:58 PM PT (Jed Lewison): More Romney:
Mitt Romney, "I know what it's like to not be able to afford another home or wonder where your next course is coming from."
Mitt, you better hope the GOP is willing to settle.7:01 PM PT (Jed Lewison): Romney declaring victory tonight. He does not live on the same planet as you or I. He had better hope Santorum doesn't win OH, ND, and AK, or tonight is going to be a crushing blow.
7:02 PM PT (Jed Lewison): Mitt "Too Rich For Words" Romney is now begging people to donate money to him at his website. No thanks, Mitt.
7:03 PM PT (David Nir): In OH-09 (again, doing a manual canvass of county election websites?Steve Singiser is a hero), with 53% of precincts reporting (broke down thusly: Erie 100, Lorain 81, Cuyahoga 43, Lucas 33, Ottawa 0) Dems: Kaptur 52, Kucinich 44, Veysey 4. GOP: Kraus still leads the Plumber 52-48.
7:07 PM PT (David Nir): Romney's starting to claw his way back in Ohio. With 54% reporting, it's Santo 38, Romney 36.5.
7:07 PM PT (David Jarman): It's likely, despite Newt Gingrich sweeping Georgia statewide (48 to 25 for Romney and 20 for Santorum), that Mitt Romney might wind up getting more delegates out of Georgia than he did out of Tennessee, where the margin was much closer. Romney's ahead in only three counties in the state, but they're the ones where all the people are: Fulton (Atlanta), DeKalb (Atlanta's eastern suburbs), and Chatham (Savannah). So he's at least likely to nail down GA-04 and GA-05, and possibly GA-01 and/or GA-13 (plus one-third of the state's statewide delegates, since he and Santorum both cleared the 20% mark).
7:07 PM PT:
I would like to note the moment that Twitter started discussing which programming language is Mitt's native tongue.7:09 PM PT (David Nir): Media outlets are now calling North Dakota for Rick Santorum.
7:11 PM PT (David Nir): So that's three states for Santorum, three for Romney, and one for Gingrich tonight. Still waiting on Ohio (of course), as well as ID and AK.
7:13 PM PT (David Nir): Yowza! A whole bunch of votes just got reported in OH-02 (R), and Mean Jean Schmidt is now up just 46-45 over Brad Wenstrup, or 220 votes, with 37% reporting.

6:46 PM PT (Jed Lewison): Ann Romney's victory speech is longer than Newt's, I think. Through it all, Mitt has a grin plastered on his face. He's finally at the podium.
6:46 PM PT:
Mitt seems to do better in states where he owns a house. Seems like for a guy that rich there's an easy fix.6:47 PM PT (Jed Lewison): So Romney takes the stage having won Vermont. Massachusetts. And Virginia, where his opponents weren't on the ballot. Newt Gingrich won the biggest delegate prize, Georgia. And Santorum won handily in Tennessee and Oklahoma.
6:48 PM PT (Jed Lewison): Who the hell writes his speeches? "We're counting up the delegates for the convention and that looks good, and we're counting down the days to November, and that looks even better." I mean that is a terrible, awful line.
6:48 PM PT (David Nir): By the way, it looks like Mitt Romney won't clear 60% in Virginia, where he and Ron Paul were the only candidates on the ballot.
6:48 PM PT (Jed Lewison): My opponents have worked very hard, Mitt said. "Thanks, you guys, nice races." What the hell does that even mean? Is Mitt losing his mind before our very eyes?
6:50 PM PT (Jed Lewison): Oh my gosh. Is Romney stealing Santorum's line? He's praising some entrepreneur who didn't go to college and doesn't have an engineering degree.
6:51 PM PT (Jed Lewison): Mitt is smacking his lips again. That's one of his most unappealing mannerisms. And that's saying something.
6:52 PM PT (David Nir): In the North Dakota caucuses (where we have no exit polls), about 35% of the vote has been counted so far. Santo is up 39-27... over Ron Paul. Yep, Mitt Romney's in 3rd place, with 26%.
6:53 PM PT (Jed Lewison):
How does Mittens give a speech about any momentum when he's had to spend a ton of cash just to beat Rick Santorum? #SuperTuesday6:54 PM PT (David Nir): In OH-02 (R), Schmidt's lead has shrunk slightly, to 49-41 per the AP, with 17% reporting.
6:54 PM PT (Jed Lewison): I have to say, I think Romney's speech screams of panic and manic.
6:55 PM PT (Jed Lewison): Romney clearly giving this speech from a teleprompter.
6:56 PM PT (David Jarman): Turning briefly back to Tennessee, where it's already been called statewide for Santorum (currently 38-28 over Romney, with 62% reporting) but where it was expected to be close and some of the congressional districts seemed likely to go to Romney. It looks like Romney will be lucky to get only one, at most two CDs. He's currently only winning two counties in the whole state, Davidson (Nashville) and Williamson (Nashville's wealthiest burbs). That would give him only TN-05, and possibly TN-07.
6:57 PM PT (Jed Lewison): Now the father of Obamacare pledging to repeal his progeny.
6:57 PM PT (Jed Lewison):
Dude, you're barely holding your own against Rick Santorum. You're not impressing anyone.

Results: AK, GA, ID, MA, ND, OH, OK, TN, VT, VA
6:29 PM PT (David Nir): The thing about this Santorum lead in Ohio is that the cities are reporting quite slowly, and if there's any "Romney country" in the Buckeye State, it's there. So that lead may yet evaporate.
6:31 PM PT (Jed Lewison): Santorum ranting about top-down government, railing against the individual mandate. Says he's the only candidate who has never supported the mandate, unlike Newt or Mitt.
6:31 PM PT (David Nir): Earlier tonight, I wondered if Newt might finish second in OK?which would mean Romney placing third. Well, don't look now, but Gingrich has taken a around a 500-vote lead over Romney for 2nd in the Sooner State. Both are tied at 27, with Santorum well ahead at 35 (and the state long since called for him).
6:32 PM PT (Jed Lewison): "I never passed a statewide government health care system when I was governor." Why not? "Well, because I wasn't governor." Then he hits Romney on the new reports that Romney encouraged Obama to adopt Romneycare at the national level.
6:33 PM PT (Jed Lewison): Santorum nearing Newt territory in terms of length of his speech. He's at about 17 minutes or so.
6:34 PM PT (Jed Lewison): Hahaha, Santorum, who once said Republicans shouldn't play class warfare, says he's the right candidate for the GOP because he grew up in a working class community like Steubenville.
6:35 PM PT (David Nir): OH-09: Now with 100% Erie, 46% Lorain, 24% Cuyahoga, 13% Lucas, 0% Ottawa... Dems: Kaptur 51, Kucinich 45, Veysey 4... Kraus 53, Joe the Wurzelbacher 47
6:35 PM PT (Jed Lewison): I think Rick really needs to be polite and let his mom sit down.
6:37 PM PT (Jed Lewison): I so want to see Mitt Romney speak after losing Ohio. So so so so much.
6:37 PM PT (David Nir): In OH-03 (D), Joyce Beatty has moved out to 38-35 lead over Mary Jo Kilroy, with about 36% reporting. Amusingly, state Rep. Ted Celeste, whose house was specifically placed into OH-03 by his pals in the legislature while Kilroy's was deliberately moved out, is in fourth place.
6:38 PM PT (David Nir): Santorum's now up 39-35 with 29% reporting. Just sayin'.
