NYT's Kristol: "White women are a problem"

So this is the sort of thing we can look forward to reading in the New York Times thanks to their hiring of "serious, respected conservative intellectual" William Kristol as a columnist. Via Media Matters:

From the February 3 edition of Fox Broadcasting Co.'s Fox News Sunday:

BILL KRISTOL: Look, the only people for Hillary Clinton are the Democratic establishment and white women. The Democratic establishment -- it would be crazy for the Democratic Party to follow an establishment that's led it to defeat year after year. White women are a problem, that's, you know -- we all live with that.

[laughter]

JUAN WILLIAMS (National Public Radio correspondent and Fox News contributor): Not me!

HUME: Bill, for the record, I like white women.

KRISTOL: I know, I shouldn't have said that.

Dismissing the legitimacy of demographic groups that typically vote for Democrats is a time-honored Republican tradition - Democratic victories wouldn't happen if it weren't for blacks/women/whoever Republican pundits care to crap on this week, while Republican victories are the product of real voters (aka white men). And apparently it's the sort of serious, intellectual thing the New York Times wants to see in its pages. We'll be looking forward to that column.

No wonder Republicans are feeling pessimistic

Glenn Greenwald pointed to some interesting data from the latest WaPo/ABC poll that shouldn?t be overlooked. Poll respondents were asked which political party they trusted to do a better job on various issues:* The economy: Dems led Republicans, 52% to 33%* Immigration: Dems led Republicans, 40% to 37%* Iraq: Dems led Republicans, 48% to 34%* [...]

NY Daily News editorial lauded McCain's
"straight talk" on immigration, ignoring his reversal

A February 4 New York Daily News editorial endorsing Sen. John McCain (AZ) for the Republican presidential nomination asserted that McCain "has been guided by two forces: conservatism and honor. Time and again, he has delivered 'straight talk' and risked the consequences of unpopular positions." As "one example," the editorial pointed to McCain's "forceful advoca[cy] of comprehensive immigration reform," asserting that, having "[r]ecogniz[ed] the economic importance of immigration, [McCain][...]

Tomorrow Change Can Happen

Tomorrow in America is Super Tuesday perhaps one of the most important moments in American history for the last 30 years.
Why is it so important? Because people from 22 American states will have a chance like no other to effect change on a scale never before seen. Yes, there have been Super Tuesday's in previous Presidential campaigns just not of this scope.

America isn't the only place hoping and waiting for change the the rest of the world is watching as well. They want an America that they can be proud of. One which stands up for the human rights of others, one which doesn't invade countries but defends them from aggressors,  a country known for its generosity in face of others adversity, a place people can look to for inspiration and know it means something that's why its so important and that's why the agent of change is this person:

McCains Maverick Gibberish

McCain can't open his mouth without saying these two contradictory things -- we should've had more troops in Iraq, and we were spending too much money. Nobody ever calls him on it.But with this embrace of "magical economics," he really does prove he's a[...]

Obama not cutting superdelegate gap

Three weeks ago, Clinton was leading Obama in superdelegates, 165-69, a 96 superdelegate lead. As of today, just over 3 weeks later, Clinton leads 201-107, a 94 superdelegate lead.

74 superdelegates have endorsed over the last 3 weeks (3.3/day), and Obama has won 38 of the 74, or 51% of them. So while Obama is now keeping pace with Clinton, he's certainly not cutting into the gap as some have expected, or even thought was actually happening.
