@RepToddAkin continues to flounder -- hilariously. First he was launching a website called "Women for Akin" that had a grammatically incorrect headline -- "I'm a women and I'm for Akin" then it came out that one of the women supposedly for him was really a tracker who works for the Democrats and reports back on his events to his opposition. Finally, early in the afternoon of the same day the site was launched, it was taken down...and all over Missouri, Democrats heard the sound of a sad trombone, because it was free entertainment.
Now that's the kind of spin that's capable of generating a gravitational field. Mary Matalin was out there trying to put a positive gloss on Mittens' faux pas of calling 47% of Americans parasites and losers, saying it's a good thing because now we can identify "who the parasites are." Personally, I look at Exxon and the big oil companies who pay less taxes than I do, and at Mitt Romney and his ilk who outsource jobs, close factories and raid pension funds. But that's just me and my Biology minor and the knowledge of what a parasite really is -- i.e. a pathogen to the host. For the record, plutocrats are a pathogen to our Democratic Republic.
Paul "Ayn Rand" Ryan chimes in on the "47% are parasites" mantra, telling voters in Dover, NH during a town hall meeting on Tuesday that the safety net encourages dependency and, presumably, denies people the dignity of starving to death without having to suffer the humiliation of eating a meal bought with food stamp benefits. Or something.
In the words of a crusty old Master Sergeant I once knew, Romney "stepped on his dick" when he rushed to get on the record attacking the President as weak and concilliatory when the embassies were attacked. Now the first polling is coming in that asks specifically about that incident and it appears that he really hurt himself with voters who found his remarks inappropriate and indicative of a candidate who just doesn't have what it takes to be President.
And he looks especially craven now that the secret tapes of him at that high-dollar fundraiser are out. In the first five minutes of the fdirst tape you can hear him talking about the 1980 election and the botched mission to rescue the hostages. He tells the assembled parasites $50,000 donors that if a situation like that were to arise, he would take full advantage of it.
What thew hell is wrong with the people in Phoenix that they keep electing Joe Arpaio? A woman who was in jail for a minor drug possession charge is dead, and her family is suing the jail and Arpaio for her death because she was a diabetic and they denied her medication and medical attention for days. She suffered through siezures, defecated on herself, vomited and screamed in agony -- but custodians at the jail said she was just kicking her habit and was getting what she deserved, and told her to "get over it." Finally, she slipped into a diabetic coma and died.
PA Supreme Court sends voter ID law back to a lower court. After a trial judge last month upheld the controvercial law on specious grounds using an obscure 125 year old law that was on the books to protect against "rogues, strumpets and wandering Arabs," the state Supreme Court on Tuesday vacated that ruling and sent it back to the lower court, noting that the law is not living up to its own promise that voters will have access to the required ID.
Florida will resume their voter purge before the election. Defying federal law and longstanding tradition that voter purges don't take place within 90 days of an election, Governor Skeletor and the Secretary of State informed county election supervisors on Tuesday that they shoud expect to receive revised lists of voters for possible removal from the voter rolls in two to three weeks, but "not later than October 15, 2012."
And we have the first GOP Governor overboard. Susan Martinez of New Mexico is pushing Mitt Romney away and distancing herself from his "47% are parasites" slander, because there are a lot of poor people in her state and they have votes that count just as much as the vote of a millionaire, whether the real parasites in the 1% like it or not.
"a well-regulated militia," eh? A California man is in jail, being held on a million dollar bond for posting to an ESPN website that he was "watching children" and "wouldn't mind killing them." ESPN webmasters alerted the authorities and they arrested him for making terroristic threats. He had the means to carry out his threats, several guns were found and confiscated pending the outcome of the investigation.
