Election Results--New Jersey Governor--11/3/09--36% Reporting
Chris Christie (R) 447,960 (52%)
Gov. Jon Corzine (D) 356,974 (42%)
Chris Daggett (I) 47,101 (6%)
A few observations from the early returns:
- Daggett wound up being a lot less of a factor than the polls seemed to hint.
- There are a lot of Democratic votes still out there...of the 22 legislative districts that had scant returns earlier in the hour, 14 of them were Democratic-controlled, while 8 were GOP-controlled.
- The fact that it is this close tells us that the earlier reports of exit polls showing a huge Christie lead with Indies demonstrates that a lot of those Independents are Republicans not willing to admit to being Republicans.
- This is going to be a very, very late night.
