So much for TGIF. I've been at a dead fucking run all day. This is literally the first chance I've had to sit down and put up a Rant?.

And Friday or not, it's the same-old in some ways. Musharraf continues with a delusion common to many generals and colonels not raised in a country where the military has never been allowed to rule: that he can rule civilians---a whole different matter than being a general of an army, with majors and captains and especially sergeants to tell people what to do---better than a civilian can.

And new and not too different: Did Barry Bonds really think anybody was buying his protestations of innocence? Looks like the asterisk is going to stand after all, and with a lot more justification than the one behind Roger Maris's name. Really, though, I think all remaining baseball records from before 1947 should have asterisks. It would be impossible simply to include statistics from the old Negro League because they didn't keep extensive stats. But it should be acknowledged that baseball's official records are erroneous and incomplete, because some of the best baseball players of the early 20th C were not allowed to play in the major leagues.
