New USA Today - Gallup poll reveals exactly how unhappy we are with the current state of affairs. 26% of Americans are satisfied with the direction of the country. Unless you are rich or have your head in the sand, there is no way you can be happy with the direction of the country. We have a president with no domestic agenda expect to block anything that the Dems would like to do. We have lost our ability to influence our friends overseas. General (President) Musharraf has just taken over the country of Pakistan and has arrested some 500 activists. Not terrorists but activists. Did you see our wimpy response? Nothing from President Bush who is probably too busy riding his bike. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that we are going to review our aid packages with Pakistan.
Turkey is moving against the North Iraqi Kurds because we have no clout. We couldn't stop the PKK for attacking into Turkey and it looks like we can't stop our NATO ally, Turkey, from attacking our ally, the Kurds. Colin Powell, who had to personally get involved to stop Turkey from invading North Iraq back in 2003, is now sitting on his sofa. Condoleezza Rice has no clout in the international community. Everyone knows that deals with this administration are worth the paper that they are written on.
Back on the home front, auto makers are laying off workers, again. When are they going to start making cars that we want to buy? ( Has "downsizing" ever helped the company grow in the long run?)
So, a separate study shows that 75% Americans are ready for a change. I know that I'm ready for a change. Are you?
