A new survey shows that nearly two-thirds (64 percent) of Australians believe same-sex couples should be allowed to marry. As polls in the U.S. have similarly shown, women are more likely to support the freedom to marry (70 percent) than men (58 percent). The country’s legislature is tentatively exploring passing a same-sex marriage law and received over 45,000 supportive responses in April when it opened the issue to public comment.
